In August of 2009, our dear friend Tim Humes was diagnosed with liver cancer. On November 20, 2009 he passed on from this life. Tim embraced life each day with his huge smile, loving heart, and booming voice.We felt compelled to do something "big" and challenging in celebration of our friend Tim. A half marathon sounded pretty big. We had never run 13.1 miles before, but Tim's wife, Kris, had declared 2010 "A Year of Firsts." The 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on May 8th in Indianapolis, Indiana would be our first half marathon! We decided that just running the race wasn't enough. We wanted to go "Beyond the Run." Walter Payton also battled liver disease and the Payton family offered their support to Tim during his fight. Connie Payton is the Chairman of the Walter Payton Cancer Fund and on the Board of Directors for The Gateway for Cancer Research. The Gateway for Cancer Research funds innovative research studies that help cancer patients worldwide.We invite you to go "Beyond the Run" and help us fund research to fight this disease. Your donations will go directly to The Gateway for Cancer Research for research studies, clinical trials and innovative cancer treatments.This one's for you Humo and it goes infinitely "Beyond the Run."Renee Nelson & Mary Anne Bjork
