Committed to Funding Innovative Research Focused On Saving Lives Now, The Gateway For Cancer Research Links Arms With Stand Up To Cancer In The Shared Mission of Advancing Research To Deliver New Treatment Options
Schaumburg, IL September 09, 2010 - The Gateway for Cancer Research has announced that it has joined forces with Stand Up To Cancer, a grassroots movement created to raise funds to accelerate groundbreaking cancer research. As part of its mission to deliver innovative new treatment options for today's cancer patients, The Gateway for Cancer Research is participating in SU2C's pursuit to engage the American public and fund cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now.
"We look to support bold, new ideas that might not otherwise receive funding and treatment innovation that can lead to lifesaving discoveries," said Lynette Bisconti, president of The Gateway for Cancer Research. "SU2C's mission to fund innovative cancer research therefore goes hand in hand with The Gateway for Cancer Research's demand for a cure today."
"Cancer claims 1,500 lives every single day in this country, and has become a leading cause of death worldwide, so the need for more and better treatments has never been more urgent," said Laura Ziskin, co-founder of Stand Up to Cancer. "The Gateway for Cancer Research joins us in the fight to find ways to save lives now. We are pleased that our voices can come together for such an important endeavor."
The Gateway for Cancer Research joins their largest sponsor, Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA), and Stand Up To Cancer in support of this critical mission. "We share a goal of making more treatment options available to cancer patients that can save lives now. Together, we can help speed research from the lab to the bedside and make a real difference in the lives of patients today," said Lynette Bisconti, president of The Gateway for Cancer Research.
