With 1,500 people dying every day because of cancer, those touched by cancer can’t afford to wait another generation for cures. After decades of research and more than $200 billion spent by the cancer industry, the treatments needed to conquer this devastating disease are still not available.  The Gateway for Cancer Research^SM, an organization committed to funding innovative research and bold new ideas for lifesaving treatments, is not waiting for someone else to take action.

The Gateway is demanding cures now to improve and save the lives of people battling cancer today, not decades down the road. 

The Gateway for Cancer Research^sm is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) that is unique in many ways, beginning with fund allocation.  An astounding 99 cents of every dollar received by the organization goes directly to fund cancer research, thanks to generous underwriting of administrative expenses by Cancer Treatment Centers of America®.  Unlike other cancer charities, The Gateway does not hold funds in reserve, but instead uses all money received to move research into promising treatment innovation forward.

The Gateway is dedicated to changing how cancer research is done. The organization’s mission is to fund research that will speed clinical breakthroughs to the bedside to help cancer patients live longer, feel better and be cured today. The Gateway is working to make promising new treatments available to cancer patients more quickly by funding bold ideas, led by leading treatment innovators^SM at renowned institutions, and blending the best of conventional and complementary/alternative therapies. The Gateway seeks out and supports the earliest phases of clinical trials for potentially life-saving treatments that might otherwise not move forward, across all areas of cancer research.

The Gateway for Cancer Research^sm was established by Richard J Stephenson to identify and pursue new and promising clinical studies that offer the most progressive treatments, leveraging the newest medical technologies and practices.   Since its founding in 1991, The Gateway has funded $19 million in leading-edge research. Gateway-funded research studies have included vaccines for specific types of cancer, dendritic (antigen producing) cell therapies, novel combination therapies (using traditional and herbal medicine in tandem), and alternative therapies designed to improve quality of life and outcomes.  The focus is always on the patient and the discovery of treatments that might benefit a patient today.
